
589 students get degrees at Cept University convocation, ETEducation
Ahmedabad: A total of 589 students received their degrees at the 20th convocation of Cept University on Saturday morning. The graduates included one PhD student, 196 undergraduate students, and 392 postgraduate students. In all, 45 students received the University Award of Proficiency.
Prof Ashoke Chatterjee, design educator and former executive director of NID, was the chief guest at the event.
Prof Barjor Mehta, president of Cept University, announced during the ceremony the launch of MBA in Real Estate, which the faculty of management will offer. “The course recognizes the growing need for professionals capable of steering the rapidly expanding formal real estate sector in the country,” said Mehta, adding that it will draw on their strengths in architecture, urban planning and design, structural engineering, construction and project management, among others.
Cept University conferred honorary doctorates (Honoris Causa) on Prof Rasik Shah and Prof Vidyadhar Phatak during the ceremony for their contributions to structural engineering and urban planning, respectively.
Sanjay Lalbhai, chairman of Cept University, said on the occasion that the cohort is entering a profession shaped by climate urgency and artificial intelligence, where technology must support, rather than replace, human judgment.
Chatterjee said in his address that meaningful architecture is defined by its emotional resonance and ethical grounding.
