Ahmedabad: Following the All India Council for Technical Education’s (AICTE) directive to conduct admissions twice a year, the state admission committee has begun preparations for the second phase of the admission process. According to the information received, 52 colleges have expressed readiness to participate, offering admissions to around 21,000 seats across various courses. In line with announcements by the central board and the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board to conduct admissions twice annually, AICTE instructed all states to implement a similar process. Acting on this directive, the state initiated steps to launch the second phase of admissions. The admission committee wrote to colleges seeking confirmation of vacant seats eligible for the second round.Sources from the admission committee said that admissions will be carried out for about 21,000 seats across different courses through centralized counselling, including around 300 seats in govt colleges. Admissions to these govt college seats will be conducted by the admission committee through an online registration process. The admission committee is expected to announce the detailed admission schedule shortly. Since AICTE directed that the second phase of admissions must be completed by Jan 19, the schedule will be framed keeping this deadline in mind. Students seeking admission to govt colleges will need to register online, while those interested in vacant seats at self-financed colleges will have to contact the colleges directly.
Importantly, the second-round admission process will be conducted only for courses where more than 30% of seats remain vacant. Details of vacant seats in each college will soon be published on the admission committee’s website.
