According to sources, the training programme will be organized by the Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training (GCERT) under the guidance of the state education department. Principals of 32,844 govt and grant-in-aid primary schools will undergo training in the first phase, from Jan 1 to 3.
In the second phase, from Jan 6 to 8, principals of 5,691 govt and grant-in-aid secondary schools will be trained.
On the first day of each phase, ministers Pradyuman Vaja and Rivaba Jadeja will address all participating principals through BISAG.
The training will focus on key aspects of school leadership, including the roles of principals under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, innovative teaching and learning methods aligned with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, and preparation strategies to improve Gujarat’s performance in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) scheduled for 2027.
Other important topics include classroom monitoring, SWOC analysis, teacher mentoring, use of competency-based assessment tools such as PARAKH-aligned questions, and strengthening pedagogical practices. A dedicated training module was prepared and made available on the GCERT website.
Officials stated that the programme will help principals effectively implement NEP 2020 and guide teachers in developing 21st-century skills among students, thereby enhancing reading, writing, numeracy, and critical thinking abilities across schools in Gujarat.
