22 schools in Ahmedabad fined for not renewing fire safety certificates, ET Education
Ahmedabad: The district primary education officer (DPEO) penalised 22 primary schools for failing to obtain or renew their mandatory fire NOC (No Objection Certificate). As per reports, a fine of Rs 10,000 was imposed on each of these schools.
According to state regulations, all schools are required to secure a fire NOC and renew it periodically to ensure student safety. However, during a recent review, it was found that 22 schools in rural Ahmedabad either did not possess a valid fire NOC or had not renewed it on time.
The penalised schools include five in Bavla, four in Dhandhuka, two in Mandal, three in Sanand, two in Viramgam, two in Daskroi, and four in Dholka. The total penalty amount created concern among other schools in the region.
In charge DPEO Krupa Jha said that the action was taken after it came to light that these schools failed to comply with fire safety requirements. She emphasised that obtaining and renewing fire NOCs is a mandatory safety measure, and such enforcement is necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff across all educational institutions.
