12 years on, primary school awaits permanent building, ETEducation
Jaipur: Students from Govt Primary School in Damor Fala village, Udaipur, have been waiting for a permanent building since the institution’s establishment in 2013. Even 12 years later, students do not have a school building, and classes run from a private house where a family of four already stays.
Despite the construction beginning in 2015, the building collapsed in 2019, leaving students and villagers advocating for a new facility. In a bid to expedite the process, students have reached out to the Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma through postcards with their plea for action.
The postcard stated that the Govt Primary School, Damor Fala, was demolished in 2019. “Several complaints were made to the local administration, but the problem remained unresolved. Due to the lack of a school building, we are forced to study together on the veranda of a private residence,” mentioned a postcard.
A local resident, Narendra Pal Damor, said, “The primary school was sanctioned in 2013, and since then, it has been functioning out of a private residence. In 2018, the school building construction was completed, and handing over to the school administration was to be done, but in 2019 the building collapsed. Since then, we have made multiple requests to the department and state govt to construct the building, but no action has been taken.”
Now in a campaign mode, students will write to the CM until their demand is met. “The school building collapsed partially, but it was in such a condition that even the parts that are there, classes cannot be conducted there as it is a safety hazard for students. There are a total of 37 students in the school, Udaand we have to somehow manage teaching them in the verandah of a local resident irrespective of rain or cold,” said Kalawati Kharadi, a teacher at the school.
