Pvt schools warned of action for flouting admission norms, ET Education
Bengaluru: The department of school education and literacy said private aided and unaided schools of all curricula in the state must publish schedule of admission, seats available in each class, medium of instruction and fee information on the notice board.
In a circular last week, the department reiterated various rules the schools must follow for academic year 2025-26.
The department also warned of action against CBSE and ICSE-affiliated schools in case they do not conduct admissions as per bylaws of their boards and circulars of the state govt.
The department said 50% of seats must be mandatorily set aside for girls in co-educational schools. In case 50% of girls are not available, the seats can be allotted to boys. While reservation for SC/ST and OBCs should be followed, linguistic and religious minority educational institutions are exempted.
Interviewing students or parents for allocating a school seat is prohibited and calls for a penalty. Capitation fee is prohibited too. School managements cannot collect any other fee from students or parents other than what is notified by them, the department said.
