
Surge in UG admissions at Gurugram University this year, ET Education
Gurgaon: Gurugram University (GU) is witnessing a surge in undergraduate (UG) admissions for 2024-25 session, with six students vying for each UG seat. That is double the competition compared to last year when only three applicants competed per seat.
GU VC Sanjay Kaushik said the first merit list will be released on July 8.
Document verification for selected students will take place on July 9 and fee submission must be completed by July 10.
According to university data, the online application window closed on Saturday at midnight, with 2,996 applications received for 450 seats across 10 undergraduate courses. Last year, the university had received 1,350 applications for 410 seats.
Students have shown a marked preference for professional and integrated programmes. The most sought-after courses include Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT): 600 applications for 60 seats; MBA (Integrated): 365 applications for 60 seats; LLB: 492 applications for 60 seats; BA (Yoga): 165 applications for 30 seats; BCA (Computer Applications): 178 applications for 60 seats; MCom (Integrated): 295 applications for 60 seats; courses like MSc (Physics) Integrated, BSc and MA (Journalism & Mass Communication) have also seen growing interest.
The GU VC said, “More than five students have applied for each seat in the undergraduate courses. The merit list will also be higher this time. Providing 100% placement to students is the university’s top priority.”
The second merit list will be announced on July 11, followed by document verification and fee submission from July 12 to 14. The admission process for the first year of graduation is going on in all the 10 colleges of the district.
