School principal suspended for sexually assaulting school girls, ET Education
Raipur: A middle-school headmaster was suspended on charges of “bad touch” on at least nine girl students of Class 6, 7, and 8 during and after lectures, in Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh.
The girls were fed up with the headmaster Mohd Rouf who would call them after the class and touch them inappropriately. The girls had called on women’s helpline number to complain on the issue, following which, an investigation committee was constituted.
An investigation team comprising Surajpur SDM, district education officer and district child protection officer went to the school and recorded statement of many girls of class 6 to 9.
The girls were terrified at the same time and feared if they would face action by the school but they were given assurance they were safe. They stated that it has been going on for past one year that the head master had been sexually assaulting them.
They said that they learnt about helpline numbers during an awareness programme and decided to make a complaint call against the head master.
Upon finding the allegations true, the education department issued a suspension order of the head master and an FIR will be lodged in the matter under POCSO Act.
