Rajasthan teacher caught with fake BEd certificate, fired 7 days before retirement, ETEducation
Bhilwara: A senior teacher of the govt upper primary school in Bhilwara’s Bilaspur panchayat was dismissed from service seven days before his scheduled retirement on Sept 30 after it was found that he had secured his appointment using an allegedly fraudulent B.Ed degree.
Krishna Chandra Jaikwal, who began his career as a grade 3 teacher at the govt primary school of Mandalia in 1993, was appointed by the Tonk district council that same year.
The case began with an anonymous complaint to Rajasthan police’s special operations group (SOG) and anti-terrorism squad (ATS), which alleged that Jaikwal had submitted a fake B.Ed degree from Lucknow University for his appointment.
Following the complaint, SOG sought a verification from Lucknow University, which confirmed through its registrar on Sept 10, that the mark-sheet and degree were not issued by it.
Acting on this information, the SOG and ATS directed the Tonk district council to take appropriate action against Jaikwal. When the council summoned Jaikwal to present his case on Sept 18, he sent his son to represent him citing illness. The son submitted the B.Ed marksheet, graduation certificate, and a verification report from 1994.
The council then directed the district education officer to conduct a thorough reinvestigation to ensure the authenticity of these documents.
A three-member team was subsequently dispatched to Lucknow University. Once the team reported that the B.Ed was indeed fake, Tonk district council chief executive Parashuram Dhanka officially dismissed Jaikwal from govt service on Sept 24.Anil Kumar Sharma, joint director in the education department’s Ajmer Division, said Jaikwal was dismissed from service after his fraud was verified and reconfirmed following a request to reinvestigate by the Tonk district council. Investigations by the SOG and ATS are going on and Jaikwal may face further questioning in the matter.
