Tirupati: The state forest department on Sunday captured the leopard, that had the students and faculty members of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University and SV University campuses in Tirupati, panicking for some time now.

Following frequent movement of leopards in and around the SVU and SVVU campuses, the forest department officials had set up cages at several places abutting the forest area recently. Signboards were also set up to caution the students and faculty members about the leopard movement in the two campuses.

After several months of efforts, the forest department officials succeeded in capturing the big cat in one of the cages they had set up. The leopard was examined by veterinary experts and later, released deeper into the Seshachalam forests, away from the two university campuses.
