Kozhikode: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that to reduce stress among children, special recreation and playtime should be implemented in schools. Speaking at the district-level interaction meeting held as part of the fourth anniversary celebrations at Malappuram on Wednesday, Vijayan said that the young generation was living under immense pressure.

Vijayan stressed the need to raise awareness among parents and teachers about creating an environment that promotes growth through play. He recommended establishing fixed play periods before the end of each school day and ensuring schools have the necessary facilities.

CM expressed serious concern about rising substance abuse among youth, particularly students. He announced that the government is implementing strong measures following extensive discussions, including an intensified anti-drug campaign when schools reopen in June.

CM said that teachers who regularly engage with students should act as counsellors and added that the govt will provide training for this. He added that drug addiction cases should not be concealed but addressed through proper counselling and support. He stressed the importance of supporting students who are recovering, rather than isolating them. TNN
