Coimbatore: The school education department on Monday transferred five teachers from a government school in Kinathukadavu, after a video of three minor girls alleging sexual harassment went viral. Two teachers, booked under the Pocso Act on Sunday, were among the five transferred.
They were booked based on a complaint from the District Child Protection Unit. Chief educational officer R. Balamurali transferred the five teachers to different schools in the Coimbatore district.
The video showed three minor girls covering their faces with masks, accusing their music teacher and botany teacher of sexually harassing them. The school education department, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), and police conducted separate inquiries.
During the police inquiry, no other students reported sexual harassment by teachers. Police questioned one of the minor girls’ mother, who circulated the video. Following this, two teachers were booked under sections 7 and 8 of the Pocso Act.
