Directive on conduct to principals, staff of non-aided colleges, ETEducation
Bhubaneswar: The higher education department has directed principals and employees of all non-aided colleges in the state to show proper conduct and behaviour towards their seniors, VIPs, MPs and MLAs.
The directive came following allegations of administrators in aided colleges making unsuitable remarks in the media against seniors or dignitaries.
The department stated that Rule 11 of the Odisha Education (Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Teachers and Members of Staff of Aided Educational Institutions) Rules, 1974, requires all employees of aided educational institutes to maintain absolute integrity of character, devotion and decorum in their conduct at their workplaces. Moreover, the govt, in its ‘book circular 47′, has laid down principles of conduct and behaviour to be maintained by all its employees in their interaction with elected MPs and legislators.
“It was recently seen on many occasions that staff of such colleges, during their agitations over various demands, were disrespectful in their opinions against ministers and govt functionaries, both in the media and on social media,” said an official of the department.
The department asked the principals to take necessary measures at college level to sensitise employees to ensure conformity and adherence to the terms laid down under the rules and circular.
