Another Lucknow University teacher issued notice for social media post on Pahalgam attack, ET Education
Lucknow: Days after issuing notice to assistant professor and satirist Madri Kakoti for her social media post on Pahalgam terror attack, the Lucknow University authorities on Wednesday issued a show cause notice to another teacher for using indecent language in social media posts while criticizing the govt on various issues.
The notice, signed by LU registrar Vidyanand Tripathi, was issued to Saurav Banerjee, a teacher at the Institute of Management Sciences, after his posts went viral.
The notice cites three posts by Banerjee in which he allegedly used “indecent language” to blame the central govt for its failure to check the terror attack in Pahalgam, mocked the govt’s stand on tariff imposed by the US, and criticized Israel for attacking Palestine.
The posts also mocked BJP functionaries and media.
“The language used by you on social media is completely political and is not in accordance with the dignity of a teacher, due to which the image of Lucknow University and the nation is likely to be tarnished. This act of yours amounts to spreading hatred towards the country and society, which is against the code of conduct for teachers at the university,” the notice said.
“Terrorism is like poison for the world, country and society, and is inhuman. Your comments have generated widespread anger in public. Therefore, you are directed to give an explanation with evidence within five working days and clarify why disciplinary action should not be initiated against you,” it added.
Banerjee said that he was yet to receive any notice from the university authorities.
Earlier on Monday, LU issued a show cause notice to the assistant professor at linguistics department Madri Kakoti for her X post on Pahalgam attack after the members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad staged a protest against her. Later, on the complaint of an ABVP office-bearer, an FIR was lodged against Kakoti on charges of sedition and causing disharmony.
