Avoid controversial questions in selection tests, ETEducation
Kolkata: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has issued a notice asking schools to avoid controversial questions for selection tests.
It releases a question bank for the Madhyamik examinees every year, which includes question papers from the selection tests of affiliated schools. The notice stated, “Please note that all questions in the selection test should strictly adhere to the prescribed curriculum and syllabus for class X, and there should not be any question included in the paper that may result in controversy and embarrassment, tarnishing the image of the board and the state of West Bengal.” It also highlighted that only the subject teachers of schools will set questions.
The board is cautious about controversial questions, as two years ago, one question related to an objectionable description of J&K created a controversy. After that incident, every year before publishing the test paper, the board issues such notices to alert schools.
