As a result, parents are now waiting for the admission process for this category in renowned schools to begin. Due to unfilled seats in the first list, parents still have a chance for admission to the second list. The admission process for EWS and disadvantaged categories will start on February 3. Â
The first list for admissions in private schools in Delhi was released on January 27. Many schools found that the reason for vacant seats this year is the increase in the annual income limit for the EWS category to five lakh rupees. Therefore, parents now have a possibility of admission to the second list.
Vandana Kapoor, the Principal of DAV School in Mausam Vihar, mentioned that out of a total of 112 general category seats in the first list, around 45 seats have been filled. She said that the admission process is quite slow this time, as previously, most admissions would have been completed in the first list itself. The slow pace of admissions is due to the raised income limit for the EWS category. Â
At Vidya Bal Bhavan School, there are 90 seats in the general category, with 65 seats filled in the first list. The school principal, Dr. Satveer, stated that there are still 25 seats available. He believes that parents with a salary of around 40,000 rupees are also waiting for the EWS admission process, now that the annual income limit for the category has been raised to five lakh rupees.
