ZP school teacher held for sexual assault on 9-yr-old student, ETEducation
Nashik: The Ghoti police of Nashik Rural arrested a 55-year-old teacher of a zilla parishad (ZP) school on Munday for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old student of Class III.
“As per the complaint by the victim’s grandmother, the teacher had sexually assaulted the girl multiple times over the past few days and threatened her not to tell anyone. The girl recently confided in her grandmother, after which the latter approached the police and lodged a complaint,” said Nashik Rural deputy SP Harish Khedakar.
On Tuesday, the accused was produced before a special court in Nashik city, which remanded him in five-day police custody.
On the woman’s complaint, the Ghoti police registered an FIR against the teacher under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
“The child is the daughter of a worker and stays with her maternal grandmother. Her parents live in another village,” the officer said.
The police said more details about the case will come to light during the investigation.
