Patna: Munger University has decided to start a weekly “chatra darbar” to address the grievances of its students. This move was announced at a recent senate meeting held at the university headquarters in Munger last week.

According to vice-chancellor (VC) Sanjoy Kumar, the decision aimed at establishing better communication between students and university administration. The weekly sessions will provide a platform for students to voice their concerns which the university authorities will address in real time, he said.

The senate meeting also saw the approval of a deficit budget of Rs1,097 crore for the 2026-27 academic session. The budget will primarily focus on fulfilling the academic requirements for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses. The university has committed to using these funds to enhance both academic and administrative operations with special attention to improving teaching quality, infrastructure and student support services, the VC said.

In addition, the senate members decided to hold a discussion on the budget on Feb 23. This session will aim to work out a contingency plan to further improve academic and administrative activities at both UG and PG levels across various colleges falling under Munger University jurisdiction, he said.

University registrar Ghanshyam Rai said the ‘chatra darbar’ is an important step towards making the university more student friendly and responsive. The university has also planned additional initiatives aimed at improving student welfare, including upgrading campus facilities and expanding scholarship programme, he said.

The budget discussion scheduled for Feb 23 is expected to further clarify how these initiatives will be implemented in the coming months with the aim of significantly enhancing the overall student experience at the Munger University, he said.
