IIT Kanpur and Vietnam National University Sign MoU for Collaborative Research and Innovation, ETEducation
Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and Vietnam National University (VNU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster academic and research collaboration across several cutting-edge fields.
The agreement marks a major step in strengthening India–Vietnam educational and scientific ties, bringing together two leading institutions in science and engineering.
The collaboration will focus on diverse areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) applications in medical diagnosis and hospital systems tailored for Vietnam, AI-driven education and research including language learning technologies, infrastructure defect detection using advanced AI tools, smart city development initiatives, material prediction and carbon–carbon applications, and drone technology for rescue operations and agricultural productivity.
A high-level delegation from VNU—comprising Dr Nguyen Thu Huong, vice rector; Prof Nguyen Dinh Duc, dean of the faculty of civil engineering; and Dr Tran Quoc Quan, lecturer, faculty of civil engineering—visited IIT Kanpur to identify specific avenues of collaboration.
The visit builds on groundwork laid earlier in June 2025, when Prof Ashish Garg, HoD of Sustainable Energy Engineering, IIT-K, visited VNU to initiate academic dialogue.
IIT-K director Prof Manindra Agrawal said: This collaboration with VNU will enhance capacity building and help tackle pressing problems faced by both India and Vietnam through joint research.”
Prof Nguyen Dinh Duc stated, “Our visit to IIT Kanpur was extremely fruitful. We explored some of the excellent research facilities here. IIT Kanpur has expertise in many of the critical areas that are also important to our institution. I look forward to strong collaborations between IITK and VNU on both academic and research fronts.”
