Former Alagappa University VC N Rajendran passes away at 69, ETEducation
Trichy: Former vice-chancellor of Alagappa University Dr N Rajendran passed away late on Thursday following a cardiac arrest. He was 69.
Dr Rajendran, who served as vice-chancellor from 2018 to 2021, was widely respected for his academic and administrative contributions. Over a 27-year career, he held key positions at Bharathidasan University, including head of department, dean, and director.
Sources said he had attended a meeting at Gandhigram Rural Institute in Dindigul on Thursday, where he reportedly felt uneasy. His condition worsened later that night, leading to his demise.
His final rites were held at his residence in Trichy on Friday, attended by senior faculty members and officials from Bharathidasan University and other institutions. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
