
Allahabad University authorities remove illegal occupants from GN Jha hostel, ET Education
Prayagraj: With the aim to restore discipline and ensure student safety, a team from the proctorial board and the dean of student welfare at Allahabad University conducted a surprise inspection and verification drive at Sir Ganganath Jha Hostel of AU on Wednesday. Out of a total of 137 rooms inspected, eight were found to be under illegal occupation. They were immediately cleared and sealed by the varsity administration.This action was initiated following multiple complaints received by the proctor’s office, alleging that unauthorized individuals were occupying hostel rooms and allegedly involved in criminal activities.
The team included dean of student welfare Prof Harsh Kumar, proctor Prof Rakesh Singh, deputy proctor Prof KN Uttam, Atul Narayan Singh, members of the proctorial board, hostel superintendent Nar Singh, and assistant superintendent Sarvesh Singh. To maintain peace and order during the operation, local police personnel were deployed at the hostel premises. The entire process was carried out in a lawful, peaceful, and systematic manner.
Proctor Prof Rakesh Singh said “AU remains fully committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and rights of its students. Hostels must function as centres of learning, discipline, and harmony, and this campaign will continue to uphold that vision.”
He said the university administration has also made it clear that such surprise inspections will be conducted regularly in the future to enforce rules and maintain strict discipline.
