
Rs 1 crore outlay for AI in Ahmedabad civic schools, ETEducation
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal School Board officially approved a Rs 1,205 crore budget for the 2026-27 financial year. This followed an initial draft of Rs 1,200 crore presented by administrative officer Dr Lagdhir Desai, which was subsequently increased by Rs 5 crore by board members.
The approved budget included a Rs 1 crore provision for AI education and a Rs 10 crore allocation for sports training for students and playground development, keeping future Olympic and Commonwealth Games in mind.
Within this Rs 1,205 crore budget, Rs 1044.32 crore has been earmarked for salaries and pensions, while Rs 131.29 crore will be spent on student-related activities.
Additionally, Rs 29.39 crore has been set aside for school infrastructure and other facilities. This year’s budget reflects an increase of Rs 50 crore from the previous year.
The school board’s plans for the coming year include the construction of 30 new schools and adding 304 new classrooms across 36 existing schools. The budget also includes Rs 2 crore for setting up an audio-visual studio.
Further allocations include Rs 50 lakh for summer festivals and Rs 40 lakh for ‘Sankalpna’ (concept) boards.
