
Ravenshaw University student wins state innovation award, ETEducation
Bhubaneswar: Debiprasad Mishra, a third-year UG student of basic information science and telecommunications in Ravenshaw University, on Saturday received the state-level innovation award for his project ‘Dharohar’ on Odisha’s handloom and handicraft industry. He received a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh from higher education minister Suryabanshi Suraj.Debiprasad’s project proposes the use of blockchain technology to ensure every product is authentic and every artisan gets fair recognition. Mishra said his e-commerce website follows a direct artisan-to-customer model and connects rural creators to global markets. He was mentored by faculty member Manish Roy. “The platform enables rural creators to access global markets without intermediaries. Dharohar establishes a scalable, export-ready, ethically governed marketplace that protects heritage while driving sustainable income and cultural recognition through next generation commerce infrastructure,” Mishra said. International conference on geochemistry: The department of geology of Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, recently organised a two-day international conference on ‘Recent Advances in Geochemistry’, which saw participation from eminent geoscientists, academics, researchers and industry experts. Speakers highlighted the significance of geochemical research in understanding Earth systems and resource sustainability.
Annual day celebrated: DAV, Rajabagicha on Sunday celebrated its annual exhibition ‘Adwitiya 3.0’, with students of various classes exhibiting science models on various issues and artworks based on different themes. Chemical scientist Kishore Kar, who attended as chief guest, urged the students to develop scientific temper and lauded them for their creativity and innovation at the exhibition. A colourful exhibition on the marine ecosystem, created by students of primary grades, was also showcased. School principal Sujata Mishra highlighted the need for nurturing creative thinking and problem-solving abilities among students.
