Degree colleges to come up in all blocks: Bihar Deputy CM, ETEducation
Patna: Degree colleges will be established in all blocks of the state to provide higher education facilities, so that girls do not have to travel far for their studies, said deputy CM Samrat Choudhary on Friday.
Choudhary said efforts were being made to strengthen the education system and infrastructure in the state. “Approximately 500 PM Shri schools are being opened in the state. Modern laboratories, smart classrooms and better educational facilities are being provided in these schools. Govt is spending around Rs 1.14 crore because Bihar will progress further only when girls are educated,” he said on the first day of CM Nitish Kumar’s ‘Samriddhi Yatra’, which started from Bettiah in West Champaran.
Highlighting the development works done in Bihar during the NDA rule under CM Nitish, he said reaching Bettiah from Patna was not easy before 2005. “Now there is the Patna-Bettiah four-lane road and an expressway is also being constructed,” he said, adding that a Lord Luv-Kush memorial has been constructed at Valmikinagar at a cost of Rs60 crore to enhance the religious significance of the area.
