
Panjab University athletes shine on international stage and national university games, ETEducation
Chandigarh: PU sportspersons delivered outstanding performances in 2025, winning medals at international competitions and National University Games across multiple disciplines.
At the Deaf Olympics 2025 in Japan, Mahit Sandhu of MCM DAV College clinched gold in shooting. Sandhu also secured gold in the women’s 50m three-position team event at the Asian Shooting Championship in Kazakhstan.
In the Shooting World Cup at Doha, Simranpreet Kaur Brar of DGC Badal won gold in the 25m sports pistol event, while Sainyam of DAV College, Chandigarh, claimed silver in the 10m air pistol event.
PU judokas Mehak Singh and Ishroop Narang of MCM DAV College bagged gold and silver respectively at the Junior Asian Championship 2025 in Taipei.
Sixteen PU athletes were selected to represent Indian universities at the World University Games 2025 in Germany, accompanied by four university officials.
At the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2025 in Rajasthan, PU won 66 medals — 14 gold, 33 silver, and 19 bronze. The university secured first position in men’s yoga and women’s judo, and finished second in men’s boxing and women’s kayaking and canoeing.
PU’s shooting contingent dominated KIUG with six gold, nine silver, and three bronze medals, with the men’s team finishing third overall and the women’s team second overall. tnn
The university also earned medals in athletics, basketball, fencing, kabaddi, table tennis, swimming, cycling, weightlifting, and archery.
