Transfers of Class II officers create stir in education dept, ETEducation
Ahmedabad: The education minister’s decision to transfer around 200 Class II officers en masse has created a stir. Several officers serving as education inspectors in district offices were posted as principals in schools, while many principals were moved to administrative offices, according to sources.
Around 60 principals across the state were transferred to the offices of the district education officer (DEO) and district primary education officer (DPEO), the State Examination Board, the education board, and other head offices. On the other hand, about 26 officers working for years in district and state-level offices were directly posted back to schools as principals.
In Ahmedabad city and rural areas, Surat, Bhavnagar, Anand, Junagadh, Rajkot, and around 11 DEO offices, almost all education inspectors were transferred. Over 90% of Class II officers in examination and education boards were also shunted.
The department promoted around 440 officers from Class III to Class II. tnn
