Student dies by suicide after being scolded for skipping school, ETEducation
Bhopal: An 18-year-old girl, a Class 12 student, allegedly died by suicide in the Ratibad area on Tuesday evening. According to police, she took the extreme step by consuming poison after being scolded by her mother for skipping school. She was rushed to the hospital, where she died late at night during treatment.
According to Ratibad SHO RB Sharma, the deceased, Payal Tilak, 18, daughter of Suresh Tilak, a resident of Badjhiri village in Ratibad, was a student of Class 12. On Tuesday evening, she consumed some poisonous substance at home. When she began vomiting later that night, her family members asked her what happened, but she did not respond.
As her condition worsened, the family took her to the hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.
Police said that no suicide note was recovered from the scene. A case has been registered, and the body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Payal did not go to school on Tuesday, which upset her mother. When questioned, Payal did not explain the reason, leading her mother to scold her for taking leave without cause.
Hurt by the reprimand, Payal reportedly took the extreme step later. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
