
BHU VC reviews amenities at South Campus hostels, ETEducation
Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University VC Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi on Thursday reviewed the facilities available at various hostels on its South Campus at Barkachha and assured inmates that the varsity would look into their concerns and explore possible solutions.
He visited several girls’ and boys’ hostels, including Vindhyawasini Girls Hostel, Nilgiri Girls Hostel, Himadri Girls Hostel and Vindhyachal Boys Hostel.
During the visits, hostel wardens apprised the VC of new initiatives such as an open library in the girls’ hostel complex, gifting plants to students and an open-air gym. Prof Chaturvedi also inaugurated two dedicated guest rooms in the Himadri Hostel on the occasion.
Students raised several issues, including increasing the frequency of inter-campus bus services, improving intra-campus commuting, upgrading sports facilities with a dedicated coach and extending library timings.
The professor-in-charge of the South Campus, Prof VK Mishra informed him about plans to build a basketball court, as requested by students. Prof Chaturvedi assured full support for student-centric initiatives .
The VC also visited the faculty of veterinary sciences, where dean Prof Amit Raj Gupta briefed him on ongoing research activities. He commended the faculty’s work in Sahiwal conservation through embryo transfer.
Senior officials of the university, along with key functionaries of the South Campus, were present.
