Tamil Nadu College Teachers Demand Urgent Recruitment and Pension Reforms, ETEducation
Madurai: Around 200 members of Tamil Nadu Government College Teachers’ Association (TNGCTA) protested in front of the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education office here on Wednesday evening, demanding recruitment of teachers and principals for vacant posts, regularisation of jobs of physical education teachers, and restoration of the old pension scheme.
There have been around 9,000 regular vacancies for the past ten years, said R Christal Jeeva, secretary of the association. They also urged the govt not to reduce teaching and administrative posts in newly established govt colleges and grant associate professor posts to non-PhD candidates as well.
They sought implementation of due promotions to college teachers appointed in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011, and to increase the honorarium of guest lecturers in govt colleges to 50,000.
The association is planning to protest in front of the Directorate of Collegiate Education in Chennai on Sept 3.
