Rajasthan Teacher Faces Inquiry for Exposing School Building Negligence on Social Media, ETEducation
Jaipur/Jodhpur: Rajasthan govt Wednesday launched a departmental inquiry against a govt school teacher in Pali for recording the video of a damaged school building and uploading it on social media.
Jagdish Meena, working as a teacher at the Government Upper Primary School, Sirana in Pali’s Rohat area, was directed to explain his actions. He was also summarily transferred to another school in Pali.
Accused of filming the dilapidated condition of the school building and uploading the video to social media, Meena was served a showcause notice after the matter reached Rohat chief block education officer (CBEO) Nandini Sharma. To ensure that the inquiry against Meena is not influenced, he was transferred from Sirana to Government Upper Primary School, Mandli Darjian, until the investigation is concluded.
Sharma said Meena should have complained to his school principal about the damage to the school building instead of uploading the video on social media. “It’s wrong to upload it on social media. He was asked for a written explanation regarding this. His school was changed while the departmental inquiry is ongoing. He has not been suspended,” she added.
The ground behind the action was drawn from the recent video conference (VC) with the Secretary, where clear instructions were given that no photos or videos of the poor condition of the school buildings would be shared on social media by any employee or staff.
