Nagpur: The city’s education sector is under scrutiny following serious allegations of corruption in teacher recruitment within the district. A representation regarding the same was submitted to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the scam. The representation was given by Central Nagpur MLA Pravin Datke and newly-elected MLC Sandeep Joshi on Saturday. The recruitment process was reportedly marred by opaque decisions, irregular appointments, and the approval of fake schools through private institutions. These actions allegedly took place with the involvement of the deputy director of education and several department employees.
Datke, during the meeting with the CM, highlighted the injustice caused to qualified candidates. The irregularities not only undermined the merit-based system but also damaged public trust in the education department.
Stakeholders have raised concerns that such corruption compromises the integrity of the education system and jeopardises the future of deserving candidates. A thorough and transparent investigation was called for to identify and act against those responsible.
The demand for a SIT signals a push for accountability and reform. Follow-up efforts are expected to continue until the recruitment process is aligned with ethical standards and transparency.
